What we're about

For people interested in finding fellow surfers with an interest in day trips to the Bay Area/Santa Cruz, and week plus trips to places like Costa Rica. I’m starting this group because it’s difficult to find middle aged people with an enthusiasm for surf travel in a place like Davis/Sac. The goal is to find people that are interested in, and able to, head out for Central America a few times a year, but anyone is welcome.

August 6-13 Camp & Surf in Baja

Needs a location

Surf trip Punta San Carlos, about 8 hours south of the border. We will have five full days of surf. waves should be waist to head high with water temps in the mid to upper 60's and air temp about like what you would expect in San Diego. PSC has 4 breaks, a beginner-ish area that is pretty mild, a really easy intermediate type of bowl on the south end, and then a few more advanced options of the main point. the Photo above is PSC from last June.)

There is group of kite borders going that we will be coordinating with, combined we should have a great group to travel and camp with. Travel will be coordinated as we get closer, generally it is about 1600 miles round trip drive and best as two per vehicle to split up the gas and driving.so in terms of cost.... think 40-50 gal of fuel per person plus the food you bring/buy. as of 4/20/2022 there are about 8 kit board people already planning on going. it would be awesome to get an additional eight or so surfers.

PSC is about 2.5 hours down dirt roads from Mex 1, departing the highway about 30 minutes south of where Mex 1 it turns inland at El Rosario de Arriba. It is "primitive camping" as in all food and water needs to packed in, pit toilets, etc. The dirt road itself is in good shape, as there is a fish camp out there and heavy trucks use to bring out Cobels that they export, But some from of 4WD/AWD is needed for short stretches. I have done several trips down to PSC and its always been a great mix of adventure, surf, and chill camping with good food and people.

A passport is required to cross the border, and anyone not traveling on a US passport must have proof of vaccination to re-enter the Untied States. You really should be vaccinated before spending time in Baja anyway.

If interested sign up here and shoot me a msg through meetup and/or txt me at (916)[masked] (the meetup msg system doesn't always tell me when a msg arrives so texting as well is a good idea).
