Kenny Creek to Cabin
Duration: 3-4 hours Distance: 5 miles round trip Difficulty: Strenuous Elevation Gain: 2150ft This trail has great views of antelope island and elephant rock. Lots of wild flowers. The cabin is from a prospect in the late 1800s. This trail is usually not very busy. Pacing yourself helps a lot with this hike. The trail is overgrown in many areas and pants are highly recommended. Poles will help with the rocky parts. Please bring water, snacks, appropriate clothing and sun protection for yourself. We will stop at the cabin, have a snack and go back down. We will meet at the trail head. Directions: I-15 North: Take 2600 S exit. Turn right on 2600 S. I-15 South: Take 2600 S exit. Use left lane to turn left onto 800 W. Use left 2 lanes to turn left onto 2600 S. From 2600 S: Follow 2600 S east and it will curve to the north, turning into Orchard Drive. Follow to 1800 S and turn right. 1800 S turns into Mueller Park Road. It will end at Mueller Park Recreation Area. Parking and Fees: The first parking lot on the right past the gate is across from the trail head. But to avoid paying the entrance fee of $9.00 you can park before the gate or down Mueller Park Road. From the gate add another 0.15 miles of walking up the road the trail head on the left. Walk-ins are $6.00, but I have been told that is only if using facilities.

What we're about

There are so many opportunities in the foothills above Davis County. This group is for recreational hikers to enjoy the scenery and one another’s company. Purpose of the group? Davis County Hiking group is for that recreational hiker. All our excersions will be in the county. Let's get familiar with the trails and people who love them in the area. What is the level of difficulty? We are targeting the recreational hiker. The one that is enjoying the trip up the canyon and not looking at the watch to see how fast they are going. Also is in shape enough that we are not worried if we will have to hall you back down.... Most hikes will be easy to moderate and range from a 2-5 miles. Any fee to join the group? Only if we pick a place that has a fee. I can cover the hosting fee but always appreciate a few bucks to help now and again.
