What we're about

Love cycling? Does life get in the way? It does for me. As I juggle life, family, work and all the other stuff my riding has got squeezed out. For a few years now I have been a dawn rider. I get up and leave for a 30-ish mile ride around Bristol's fantastic hinterland. But it would be great to do this with other people too.

I'd like to test the water on a new group. I would not see it as a dad's or mum's group, just for those who want an early morning ride, weekend ride, a couple of times a month because they have more important things to get back for. We'd meet early (we'd define 'early') and do about 25-30 miles around the Mendips, Cotwolds and the city limits.

My suggestion is a couple of times a month and see how it goes. I'd see the group as open and not performance related - you'd need a reliable bike, a helmet and be happy to average about 12 mph (I think that is fairly inclusive?). All great things start in pubs, so I suggest a first meeting in the Navy Volunteer, plan a route (Lost Lanes South West is a good start) and see where we go from there.

The Pub Planning Session

As mentioned, inform pub session to gain interest in starting a Dawn Ride group. Bring enough for a couple of drinks. It would be a chance to see what other want from a group, plan a first ride and bring some collective thinking to this - one person never considers all the angles.
