Have you ever wanted to learn stained glass? This class will teach the basics of the copper foil technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The class costs $150 and will include:
Glass cutting and shaping
Framing and more.
Participants will each get a basic set of glass cutting tools, copper foil, cleaning and finishing supplies, and enough glass to make a simple glass panel.
Participants will have the option of buying their own soldering equipment and additional glass and supplies, but Decatur Makers will have a couple of irons available for use on site. The group will also have a glass grinder available for shaping. This is not a cheap hobby, but it's very rewarding.
Comparable classes at this price do not include any glass or supplies. I have a small stained glass supply operation in my basement, and you can also get additional glass and equipment on line or through Armstrong Glass in Kennesaw.
The class is scheduled for 6 consecutive Thursday evenings. Additional work can be done during open build nights.
Be aware that it is normal to get minor cuts when working with glass, because the edges can be razor sharp when first cut.
Refunds will be given if a student cancels by July 18th, or if the class is cancelled or rescheduled for any reason.
