Ever wonder how a speaker works? Want to learn how to build your own homemade speakers? In this class we will start with an overview of sound and acoustics and how they relate to speaker function. Then we learn about the parts that go into a speaker, their functions and how they work together to get the best sound. We will also learn about the ins and outs of building speaker enclosures. Finally we will build a set of model speakers that you can take home yourself!

This will be a two part class, held on two nights. The first night (Sept 12) will cover speaker theory and design then conclude with a discussion of the model speaker design. On the second night (Sept 19) we will assemble the speakers using a kit provided by the instructors.

If you'd like to the see and hear the model speakers we'll be building before the class, the prototypes are set up by the whiteboard in the eshop. Feel free to give them a listen!
