A gentle introduction to the fundamentals of traditional blacksmithing. Each participant will finish gaining a greater understanding of traditional blacksmithing and item(s) they will forged by hand with hammer on anvil.

Min Age: 10* (* - instructor reserves right to remove and refund anyone who doesn't follow basic safety guidelines)

The instructor, Garrett Goebel lives in Decatur. He is a founder and member of Decatur Makers and a member of the Alex Bealer Blacksmithing Association of Georgia. Garrett has received instruction in blacksmithing from Lucas House at the John C. Campbell folk school. He is currently working through a project based self-paced study of the blacksmithing curriculum developed by the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA) as laid out in the three volume set "The Skills of A Blacksmith" by Mark Aspery.
