Have you taken Welding Machine Basics and now want some instruction on how to weld? Or have you been just wondering what all the fuss is about? Join us in an introductory TIG class.
Students will learn the basics of cutting, welding, its application, and safety. Class will cover angle grinding basic info on types of welding and welding machines. We will be practicing on mild steel to gain some competence in TIG welding. We will discuss TIG applications and welding different types of metal.
TIG (officially GTAW - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) welding is a welding process that allows very high quality welds, even on thinner metals. TIG welding is generally viewed as allowing the highest quality welds of all arc welding processes because it allows for more heat control as you weld. It is the most challenging to master so is also very satisfying to learn. TIG is the process commonly used on customer bicycles, motorcycles, cars, etc. Welding with TIG is the cleanest process with little to no splatter.
Student must wear natural fiber clothes (100% cotton, leather, hemp, bamboo, linen, etc) and shoes. Closed toed shoes. Covered arms and legs (long sleeves and long pants).
If you have your own safety equipment you can bring it. Bring reading glasses if needed (must see up close).
NOTE: This class may be rescheduled due to weather. We weld outside and electricity and water don't mix. Strong wind or severe cold/heat may also require rescheduling. Please check back prior to class. Message Bria if you have any questions.
