Deep Fun Dreamwork Exploring Dreams through Play and Art 12 week group every other Thursday 7-9 Are you yearning for a deeper connection to yourself and others? Are you curious about new ways to know and express your authentic self? Have you wondered what your dreams are trying to tell you? Do you want more engagement with your inner creative resources? Interested in Depth Psychology or just want to explore your inner landscape? Then join our small supportive dreamer-centered dream group. This a group to discover personal, subjective meaning and truth. Not interpretation but deeper understanding through active imaginative engagement with our dreams. Dreams are invitations to creative discovery. They horrify, stump and delight us. They ask us to come out and play! From the vast creative well of the unconscious they deliver just the medicine we need! But unveiling their many layers of meaning can be challenging for the individual alone. Dreams come alive in a supportive group setting. Especially if we do not limit our experience to the verbal but dialog with them in their own language-- through expressive arts. Every other Thursday evening 7-9 PM $30 Limit 6 Touchstone Counseling, 140 Mayhew Way #902, Pleasant Hill Facilitated by Joan Bechtel, registered MFT intern IMF #74034 Supervised by Marsha Rusby, MFT, Lic # MFC 39234 Please contact facilitator for interview 925 932-0150 x 307 How the group works A very simplified outline of the evening might be: Open with a simple creative ritual Brief check in that includes a dream title. Listen to one member’s dream read aloud Group asks clarifying questions Group offers inspirations and imaginings in the form of “If this were my dream…” Dreamer responds to input. Focus on one dream element through art. End by sharing our experience. Participants may benefit from reading any of Jeremy Taylor’s work such as “Dreamwork.” This approach allows the dreamer to feel supported as the final authority on the “meanings” of the dream. It also allows all the members to utilize the dreams of others for their own personal exploration and discovery. What is Deep Fun Dream work? The transformative power of creativity is inspiring and contagious. That’s what makes a dream group so deeply profound and so much fun at the same time. Is it really possible to have “fun” as we confront our “demons,” befriend our “weaknesses,” heal our suffering? Yes. Deep Fun Dream work is an experience of curious, easy, heart and body engagement with our deeper selves. This is the kind of free, experimental, joy-driven engagement that children experience in spontaneous improvised play. How can expressive arts support and extend dream work discovery? The heart cries out to us in many voices, trying to get our attention: physical pain, depression, anxiety--even boredom. But can we answer? Do we speak the language of the heart? We can re-learn this language. The ancient experiential language beneath the verbal: the language of symbolism, emotional energy, and somatic felt sense. Through dreams, art and play-- we can integrate our deepest truth. Reunite with our lost treasures And respond to the call of the heart.
