Squishy Meeeen Innnnn Spaaaaaaaace! Stranded in Space with Phantom Planet!

Do you like your astronauts doughy and lumpy? Do you like watching Gene Hackman chew  tons of scenery while Gregory Peck stands around and cashes a paycheck? If that cinematic combination gets you going then you are not going to want to miss this selection we have coming up!

To start things off, we're going to offer up Stranded in Space AKA Marooned - a lame pseudo Apollo 13 featuring such cinematic all stars as Oscar winner Gene Hackman(The French Connection), Oscar winner Gregory Peck(To Kill A Mockingbird), Golden Globe winner David Janssen(The Fugitive), Golden Globe Nominee Richard Crenna(Rambo III) and directed by the legendary Oscar nominee John Sturges - I kid you not folks. Somehow all of these talented powerhouses came together to create this, this cinematic turd of a space adventure. It's so melodramatic and the performances are SO over the top you can't not laugh at it. And Joel and the Bots do their best to help make the whole thing even funner than it already is! - Somehow this movie won Best Visual effects for that year!?!

Need some more? Next we'll feature one of the lumpiest, doughiest astronauts to fly a suggestive looking rocket ship by way of The Phantom Planet. Mike and the Bots do their best to help this one along. It helps that this early 60's space adventure is so damn goofy! A planet that looks like a lump of extra crispy KFC, an alien that looks like a Dog with scoliosis, and enough dopey profound speeches to put any graduation commencement ceremony to shame. There aren't any famous people in this one, and probably for the better!

Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Location. We'll get the show rolling around 1:00 ish, if you're running late, let us know and we'll hold things back a bit. Bring snacks if you want, we'll have the chips, salsa, and cheese dip out! - I was going to buy a ton of space ice cream for everyone but that junk kills your gut and is expensive as all get out!

Thanks again to Mary & Matt for hosting - fun and relaxing afternoon. Will try not to launch beers all over the living room (boy does THAT sound more interesting when you don't know what really happened) next time around!

Diana, yes, you can actually take my place as I can't make it last minute! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend, but I'm sincerely looking forward to the next meetup. Have a blast, y'all!

Howdy, ran across this group and after the recent Rifftrax thing being so enjoyable figured this should be fun to get back into (I have 60h of this stuff on VHS, fairly poor copies though).

And I'm coming willingly - I have to say Marooned is pretty rough even WITH the riffing!
