Intro to Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) Parenting Techniques

Details

Families caring for children from trauma and disabilities often experience challenges addressing resulting fear-based, survival behaviors and understanding the complex needs of their children. This presentation will orient participants to Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®). TBRI® is an evidence-based, trauma-informed and developmentally respective parenting model aimed at healing and supporting attachment for children with histories of complex developmental trauma. Jill will briefly discuss:

- Early trauma factors which research has shown to contribute to complex developmental trauma;
- How trauma impacts brain development, neurochemistry, and attachment; and
- Some of the TBRI® techniques to address the complex needs of children to help them heal, attach, and resolve difficult behaviors.

Jill Crewes, MSW, is the Senior Director of Family Support Services at The Adoption Exchange and an accredited TBRI® Educator. She has dedicated her 19-year career to working with children with traumatic histories and the families caring for them. Jill has served children and families as an ongoing child protection caseworker, adoption caseworker, foster care certification worker, trainer, and family support director. She has also personally experienced the joys and challenges of fostering and adopting. Jill is passionate about training and brings much of her own experiences to the learning environment.
