Incorporating C, C++, or Java, with R

Steve Sullivan will be presenting on:

Enhancing R with C, C++ and Java

The statistical language R has a myriad of features, yet for some
problems it can be too slow. Enhancing R's capabilities with a
compiled language can improve performance -- often by a factor of
100 to 1000. I look at five ways to improve R's performance.

Enhancing R with C or C++:

  • The builtin .C interface
  • The builtin .Call interface
  • The builtin .External interface
  • The Rcpp package

Enhancing R with Java:

  • The rJava package

We will be meeting in Room 470
