What we're about

We meet once a month to walk around scenic Des Moines. It is a great way to see the beautiful town on the water and experience all the great parks we have.

Special Earth Day walk in Des Moines

Des Moines Field House Parks and Recreation Office

In April we have a special walk in celebration of Earth Day. It will be on a different day and time than our usual 3rd Sunday at 11:00. On Saturday April 20th meet at 10:00 am at the Des Moines Fieldhouse, 1000 S 220th Street. We will be given pickers, trash bags, and safety gear which we will use to pick up trash while we enjoy our walk around Des Moines. This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day (which is on Monday April 22nd), get some exercise, meet new people, enjoy the scenery, and help clean up the city. Dogs are welcome, though they may have trouble picking up trash. These walks are sponsored by the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, a non-profit that supports and raises money for kids programs and senior services in Des Moines - http://www.desmoineslegacy.org. The walk leader is Gary at[masked]

Walk around Des Moines waterfront and the scenic parks

Des Moines Marina

Meet at the Des Moines Marina fishing pier at 11:00 am on the 3rd Sunday of the month. We will walk different routes each month, some along the water, some up the hills, and explore the scenic parks in the city. Occasionally we may drive to a different starting point since a couple of the waterfront parks are farther south in the city. These walks are sponsored by the Des Moines Legacy Foundation, a non-profit that supports and raises money for kids programs and senior services in the Des Moines Parks Department and Senior Center - http://www.desmoineslegacy.org
