  Behind beaver dams it can be VERY deceptive, I have heard of seasoned mountain men of the past falling prey to the same situations. Perhaps that is why they always carried a stick to probe with. We will have to make sure that is a requirement for the next paddle along with the pfd. . . . funny the group leader didn't think of that.
