Elevating Design by Varun Vachhar

Leading companies use design to drive efficiency and profit, and solidify their position in the market. Recent studies have found that there is a strong correlation between an organization's design maturity and business performance. More mature companies improve customer satisfaction and usability through design. This focus on user-centric design leads to an increase in their revenue and total returns to shareholders substantially faster than their industry counterparts.
An organization can not organically evolve robust design practices. It requires a meaningful investment in people, platforms and processes. As more emphasis is placed on design across the business, design systems, design operations, and the associated tooling become mission-critical.
In this talk, Varun will explore how you can leverage DesignOps to scale your design practice and advance your design maturity.

Varun Vachhar helps organizations elevate their design maturity level by adopting more sophisticated design and development practices. With a background in engineering and creative coding, he specializes in design systems and computational design. Originally from New Delhi, he currently lives in Toronto and is the Director of UI Architecture at In his spare time, he likes to experiment with generative art and making playful experiences for the web.

DesignOps culture by Tanvi Pande

The definition of Design Ops is: ‘the orchestration and optimization of people, processes and craft in order to amplify design’s value and impact at scale.’
Through this talk, I hope to shed some light on the gaps between the culture we aspire to create with Design ops, and the way design teams and stakeholders actually behave at work. When attempting to sustain design doing in big corporates, the struggles of product owners, management and designers is becoming key concern as we move towards integration.

Tanvi Pande is a human centred designer, who is currently working at KLM. She is passionate about problem solving, sustainability and education. In 7 years as a product & service designer, she has mastered the art of stepping in and out of the customer’s shoes to create an apt product service system.
