The Detroit Birthday Party this year will highlight French Detroit history, art and folklore. For our event, local artists are creating more than 40 original artworks based on the 1883 book "The Legends of Le Détroit," a compilation of myth and folklore from Detroit's French era. The popup art gallery and auction is curated by Corktown Studios.
Upriver Local will provide the cuisine, Brew Detroit is providing the beer. DJ ERNO will play music, Amy Elliott Bragg will present early Detroit history and Simeon Heyer will share the history of the Jam Handy building. This will be an epic evening of Detroit history, culture, food and drink: stroll through the art gallery, talk early Detroit culture, meet other Detroit enthusiasts and if your bids win: head home with unique Detroit art.
