The First Forty Years of Detroit Bicycling (1863 - 1903) with Todd Scott

Bicyclists have had a profound affect on the city of Detroit, our nation's transportation system and much more. Bicyclists led the fight for good roads. Bicycles played a key role in redefining women's role in society. And it was Detroit bicycle racers, mechanics and technology that spurred the creation of the auto industry. Todd Scott will share the stories: from the first Detroit bicycle ride in 1863 through the Golden Age of bicycling and to the transportation mode that quickly replaced the two-wheeled wonder.

Todd Scott is the Detroit Greenways Coordinator for the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance. Todd is passionate about Detroit's past, present and future.

I was wondering if anyone remembers the woman who spoke about the Michigan Historical Markers? I was looking for her info to sign up and help with the marker info...

Yep, that is Kimberly Johnson, [masked]. I signed up to help, too, and she has sent me a few emails. The survey hasn't started quite yet.

    Hi Brian -
It seems I probably won't be able to attend. Being you're our tech guy; is there any chance that Todd's presentation could be either recorded for audio and/or even video, and then posted or made available? I wanted very much to come to this, as bikes and biking are really important to me; but it doesn't look like it will happen.
    Thanks for considering ...

My company BSM Technologies manufactures bicycle frames right here in Southeast Michigan. I will try and bring a vbbike.com bike along with me. Check out Joesph's website.
