The Detroit GDG and the Ann Arbor GDG proudly present the Michigan Google Developer DevFest 2013.
What is a DevFest?
The Michigan Google Developers DevFest will consist of a one-day conference on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 8:00am to 7:00pm where developers will meet and attend sessions related to Android. Confirmed topics at the moment include the new Android Maps API, Consuming Web Services from Android Applications, and Android and the Arduino controller. We will be adding more speakers and will announce them on this site in the near future.
Thanks to a sponsorship by Detroit Venture Partners (www.detroitventurepartners.com (http://www.detroitventurepartners.com/)), we will have the 5th floor of the historic Madison Building for the day. The 5th floor includes a 120-seat auditorium for presentations as well as ample open space for working in small teams to code and learn.
So how exactly will the day proceed?
The DevFest will consist of a one-track series of sessions. Session leaders will have a presentation for each session as well as a exercise or tutorial for the attendees to work through after the presentation if they wish. The exercises and tutorials will be open ended enough to encourage attendees to get their feet wet by further examining the topic on their own. Overall, this event will cater to those who want to attend sessions and learn as well as to those who may want to gain some hands-on coding experience. All of the exercises and tutorials will be optional for those attendees who wish to participate. Attendees are encouraged to bring their development machines to hack on code as they wish.
The DevFest will officially start with introductions at 9:00am. Attendees who may have not coded in Android in a bit, or who wish to ensure their machines are ready for the DevFest sessions, will be able to arrive early, from 8:00am to 9:00am to work with volunteers to ensure their machines are up to snuff and ready for the day. Sessions will officially end around 5:00pm. Space at the Madison Building will be open till 7:00pm to allow attendees to further network and code as they wish.
What is included with the suggested donation?
We will use the suggested donation to provide breakfast and lunch for the day as well as refreshments. All of the funds collected will be used to make this day a success for all involved.
