Announcing a new Meetup for The Detroit International Social Meetup!

What: Celebrate Songkran festival at Bangkok 96

When: Tuesday, April 13,[masked]:00 PM

Bangkok 96
2450 South Telegraph Road
Dearborn, MI 48124

Songkran is the Thai New Year celebration, celebrated from April 13-15. People in Thailand typically go to the temple to make merit, and they have what basically amounts to a country-wide water gun fight as well. April is the hot month in Thailand, so the water actually feels pretty nice. I guess you could bring a water gun to the meetup if you want to feel authentic, but April might be a little cold for that here in MI.

You can learn more about Songkran here at Wikipedia:

I've had several requests to try this Bangkok 96, and the Thai New year seemed like a good reason to continue my long search for decent Thai food in the metro area. I hope you can join me there. There aren't really that many Thai people in the Detroit area, so I doubt the restaurant will not be busier than normal.
