  • 5 days ago · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month the Head of Video and Network Infrastructure at Shomi tells all! Join us to hear how Shomi migrated their production workload (700+ EC2 instances) to AWS in two months with no downtime, while building a DevOps culture of transparency, and having a lot of fun as they learned. We will tell you what worked and what didn't and where Shomi was going when it was finally shut down.

Agenda:

• 6:00 PM Check in and hang out

• 6:30 PM Announcements and presentation

• 7:15 PM Chat with old and new friends

About the speaker:

Augusto Rosa is Shomi's Head of Video & Network Infrastructure, an accomplished technical engineer with an effective management style who built and led highly functioning agile teams. Since joining Shomi in 2014, he helped scale Shomi from 30 employees to almost 120, while accommodating Shomi's growing customer base. During the last two years, he repositioned Shomi's operational teams into agile teams applying DevOps methodologies. He has helped migrate, design and build Shomi's highly scalable cloud infrastructure, leveraging AWS and Akamai. Lately he was focused on growing Shomi's operational effectiveness, improving video quality for its customers, and optimizing infrastructure in an effort to reduce churn. Shomi's owners have announced a close down of the business as of November 30th 2016.
