What we're about
This is a fortnightly Saturday morning Meet-up in the great outdoors. We will start our sessions in Teignmouth, but may choose other coastal locations on other days. The idea is to avoid fixed ideas, postures and even locations, Instead to encourage fluidity, and in the midst of fluid movement find a sense of stillness. Sounds nonsensical? I know - but you'll just have to try it, to understand it.
The classes will not run all year, but at different times, depending on season, availability of venue and interest shown from players. Expect short, but a compact series of classes and then a break.
We are going to be playing Tai Chi, not studying it. Therefore we are not students, but players - and play Tai Chi in the same way someone learns to play an instrument.
Weather and crowds will decide if we practice on a beach or in a nearby park. If you've never done Tai Chi before and are curious to try, or you are an ancient practitioner just looking for people to practice with, this group is for you. I'm used to taking classes of mixed levels and complete beginners.
For anyone new to Tai Chi, we will start with:
• Some loosening up exercises
• Then practice some movement postures
• And finish with some breathing patterns.
But, depending on who shows, we'll take each session as it goes. Fluidity and all that.....then, maybe, go for a late morning coffee ;)
