This group provides space to practice somatic meditation and mindfulness meditation. Our practices are aligned with Dharma Ocean ( https://www.dharmaocean.org/ ) and the spiritual teachings by Dr. Reggie A. Ray, Caroline Pfohl, and other senior teachers. Dharma Ocean is rooted in the path of Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism, which was taught by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the West, and adapted by Reggie Ray, a senior student of Trungpa. Practices mold understanding from Western psychology, specifically somatic psychology, and Buddhism and fit into the landscape of modern contemporary American/Western Buddhism.
We practice aiming to cultivate:
• The fundamental goodness of the human person — our own and others’;
• Loving-kindness, openness, and compassion;
• The sacredness of all of life and experience — that everything that arises is an expression of ultimate wisdom and a potential gate to immediate awakening;
• The everyday practice to “never turn away” — to develop an attitude of complete acceptance and openness toward all experience, finding in it the transformation, fulfillment, and ultimate realization that so many of us seek today.
We welcome novice practitioners and experienced meditators with interest in body-based (somatic) meditation and integrated mind-body practices.
