Meetings start with a short introductory talk about Buddhism, and continue into a half hour meditation session. The Buddhist meditation is free, guided in English, doesn't require any special clothes, and doesn't involve any complex rituals.
The Diamond Way Buddhist Center of Madison is place to learn, meditate and realize your inherent power, richness and wisdom. No previous experience with meditation is required, and all you need to bring is yourself and any burning questions.
Our nearly 700 groups and centers are built upon idealism, friendship and an egalitarian spirit. Our centers run off the vibrancy and surplus of lay Buddhist practitioners, and no one is paid.
Our regular programs include:
• Regular meetings on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 pm: members of the center share their understanding of core Buddhist teachings for 10-15 minutes and then guide a 20-minute meditation in a warm, relaxed and generally jovial atmosphere!
• Lectures at the center and on the UW campus: lectures are typically 1-2 hours long and include guided meditation. We invite experienced Diamond Way Buddhist teachers from nearby and abroad that can share practical advice and deepen our understanding of the essentials.
• Immersive weekends of learning and meditation: we offer more in-depth programs which include the opportunity to learn meditation practices, Q&A with experienced teachers and lectures on important topics regarding the Buddhist path.
• We're an international organization: which means you can get connected to other lay practitioners, exciting events and ongoing projects anywhere in the Americas, Europe and even Siberia! Seriously!
