As speakers, we want to be effective in reaching our audience with our message. Our choice of language and use of grammar are the vehicles that make this possible.
During this workshop you will:
- Learn about different linguistic devices and practice using them
- Understand how to spice up your speeches for maximum impact
- Discuss how to use language that is appropriate to an audience or situation
- Break bad habits such as describing things as good or nice
Throughout the evening Susan will use a variety of educational methods including games, exercises, teamwork, reflection and discussion. The workshop is designed to be interactive and there will be plenty of opportunity to practice your skills in a fun and supportive environment.
If you want to deepen your knowledge of language, practice linguistic devices and leave with a plan of how to craft them in your next speech then this is the workshop for you.
Please bring a pen and paper.
The event is free although a small donation on the night (suggestion £1) would help to cover costs and enable Didsbury Speakers to put on more of these special events.
This meeting, run by our past Club President Susan Hewitt, will be held at a different venue (Cheadle Village Hall) than our usual meetings, and will be held on September 14th at[masked]pm.
