Link Building Techniques to Combat Pesky Penguins

Welcome to Digital Females in 2013!

We are planning lots of great events this year and looking to see the Digital Females group continue to grow in size. There are now almost 340 members in the group which is a great result considering we only launched this time last year so thank you for all your support to date, we couldn't have got here without you!

The first meet up of the year has been scheduled and with Google constantly refining their algorithm, we wanted to bring you a topic that is hot on everyone's minds, the Google Penguin!

The Speaker

Judith Lewis is the Head of Search at Beyond and is a specialist online marketer with skills in SEO, PPC, social media marketing as well as other digital marketing techniques. She has been doing SEO since before it had a name and has worked both in-house and agency-side.

She was one of the judges for both UK Search Awards, is a founding everywoman Modern Muse and is the coordinator for London Girl Geek Dinners.  Her clients include Google, Virgin, Slendertone, Guggenheim, SAP, Amadeus, & ShareThis.

Judith writes regularly for SEO Chicks and Mostly About Chocolate as well as the Huffington Post's Technology section.  She speaks at various conferences around the world.

The Talk

With the Google Penguin continuing to impact websites around the world, Judith is going to share link building ideas with us that help us stop the pesky penguins from penalising websites. The session will include:

  • 'White hat' techniques
  • Creating an organic-looking footprint
  • What to watch out for
  • The keyword percentages to live by

To connect with Judith before our event, you can follow her on Twitter @JudithLewis, read her blog posts on SEO Chicks or connect on Linkedin.

The Date and Location
On Thursday 28th February, we are going to meet at The Long Acre (same venue as last time). The evening will begin at 6:30pm with Judith taking to the stage at 7:00pm.

Trusted Proxies are our headline sponsor for the night which means we have them to thank for the free bar and nibbles on the night!

Trusted Proxies provides highly anonymous Geo-specific Enterprise Class Private Proxy Servers for the SEO industry. These enable you to speed up your Keyword Ranking reports without blocks, generate Geographically accurate SERPs data, and see content on overseas sites as if you were actually surfing in those countries.

Final Words

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the event. All the meet ups from last year were a great success and I can't wait to see how the group grows in 2013!

Fantastic! Judith wowed with her hugely informative (and very candid) presentation. I have so many things to look up today, thank you. Big thanks to Tara for some brilliant organising too. Already anticipating the next DF event (hint, hint).

Link building can be rather a dry subject, but Judith injected humour and passion into it - and shared some very useful insights on link building post Interflora-gate. Top meetup!
