So we're kicking of the new year by organising the very first DigitalOcean Amsterdam Meetup hosted in the new Your Majesty Office on Weteringschans (opposite Rijksmuseum).
Come along, drink some beers (or other cold beverages), munch on a slice of pizza and meet other developers. Have a good time and maybe you'll learn something. Its a community driven meetup so there will be a relaxed atmosphere without pesky recruiters or overly-heavy brand sponsorships.
"Introduction to Devops"
It's hard to have some role in IT and not have heard of the term "devops" by now. People might have mentioned "devops tooling" or "doing the devops" or "devops culture" or "devops teams" or even hiring a "devops engineer". The different ways the term is used can get pretty confusing, if there was any clarity in the first place. This talk will cover a bit of history of devops, a definition of two of it that are in common use, why services like those of DigitalOcean are important to it and we will do our best to get you on your way to make the most out of it. This talk is an updated version of the talk given in August at the Amsterdam Atlassian offices.
When Gérard is not snowboarding or attending or organising Devops meetups, he works as a Sr. System Engineer for Travix (aka Cheaptickets/Budgetair/Vayama) where he is learning how to sysadmin in the 21st century. He has the idea that Devops might have something to do with that.
The structure is as follows:
- 6:30 - Doors open - Grab a drink and get a seat
- 7:00 - Introduction to the meetup
- 7:10 - Gérard de Vos - Introduction to DevOps
- 8:00 - Closing remarks then pizza and 'networking'
We are on the hunt for speakers so if you want to speak at this or upcoming meetups or have seen great speakers on topics surrounding cloud and devops, get in touch! Write on the board below or send me a message.
The DigitalOcean Community has all the resources you need to go from development to production, and please read the Events Code of Conduct before attending.
