Do you have a passion and commitment for spiritual growth, social justice, equality, friendship, and comradery? Are you an LGBTQ+ Catholic or ally? Are you looking for a place where you can celebrate life and all its richness, where prayer is exhilarating, not depressing and mournful? Glad you found us! We're the community of DignityHouston, and we invite you to find a place of faith and welcome with us.
Dignity offers a sacred space where LGBTQ+ Catholics and allies can connect, form a network of support on our faith journeys, and claim the wholeness and holiness of a life of acceptance. Join us as we walk closely with the Lord, affirming us as we are, and celebrating the freedom found in being who God invites us to be while entering more deeply into the mysteries of wholeness, community, and Christian charity. At Dignity, all are welcome.
Every Saturday at 5:30 pm, we have a lay-led Liturgy of worship that draws on the Mass that every Catholic knows and enriches it with the wealth of the LGBTQ+ experience. We don’t just celebrate the Mass, we enter deeply into our Liturgy, discussing the readings and the ways that they read us rather than us reading them. Afterwards, we go out for dinner at a local Montrose restaurant to continue our fellowship.
As if that’s not enough, we have many more social, educational, and service activities. All are welcome to join! Have you strayed away and aren’t sure if you’re ready to come back to religion? Not finding the joy and support you know the Risen Christ offers? Wanting to get out of a rut? Not a Catholic or LGBTQ+ but curious or interested? Whatever? Come for a visit and see for yourself why DignityHouston is the empowering and peaceful home for Houston's LGBTQ+ Catholic community--where we "bring the gifts that differ, and in splendid, varied ways, singing a new church into being...one of faith and love and praise."
Find us at The Havens Center, just west of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (and next to the Chocolate Bar)!
