Cheap Eats: Tex-Mex Dinner at Latitude 26!

I've been wanting to do a dinner at Latitude 26 for at least a couple years now, but somehow it always keep slipping through the cracks. But after having dinner there again recently, I decided that one way or another, it was time for this group to pay a visit! Why? Awesome and interesting food at great prices, of course!

Cuisine - A lot of restaurants practically trip over themselves crowing about how "authentic" they are, while treating "Americanized" Mexican food, aka Tex-Mex, as some sort of bastard stepchild. None of that nonsense here! Brought to you by Tony and Kelli Almond (of Almond's fame, one of my favorite restaurants), Latitude 26 is proud of its Tex-Mex food heritage and even flaunts it! So what can you expect? First, you'll still find plenty of your Mexican favorites here, from enchiladas to burritos to chimichangas (my favorite) to flautas to tacos to fajitas to quesadillas. But you'll also find touches such as beef brisket (a Texas favorite) or smoked chicken available for most dishes, amazing vegetarian choices, plus the kind of attention to detail the Almonds are famous for. It's really simple: if you like Mexican food, you're going to love Latitude 26! Everything I've tried has been nothing less than sublime, and I'm not even that into Mexican food, so if I like it, you know it's awesome!

Cost - Mexican food in general is usually pretty inexpensive, and Latitude 26 keeps the faith. Pretty much all dishes are between $8 and $14 with most clustered around the $10-$12 range.  Great food at a low price? That's our cheap eats!

Other Info - Latitude 26 is located in Dogtown, on the northwest corner of Clayton and Tamm. The parking is mostly on-street.  Also, there is construction going on at Clayton and Hampton so you might allow a few extra minutes or come in on Clayton from the west instead.

As with many of our dinners, we can spread this one out a bit to make it easier for the restaurant. Therefore you can arrive anytime from 6:30 to 7:15 or so. In doing so, we can lessen the hit on the kitchen. Just plan on doing some socializing with your fellow frugal foodies!

Looking forward to seeing lots of you at Latitude 26 on Tuesday the 22nd for some excellent Tex-Mex!
