Exciting news to share! Disability Startup Network has established a collaboration with EO DC, a network of successful entrepreneurs in DC, to find dynamic speakers for our Meetups. Through this partnership, we'll have access to leading entrepreneurs in the DC area who have built million-dollar businesses.
This month we'll hear from Lisa Wise. Lisa describes herself as a serial entrepreneur, with a social justice lens. Her work has always been cause-driven, anchored in communities and geared toward improving the lives of individuals. She is now the CEO of Roost DC, an employee-owned real estate management company. With fifteen owners, Roost DC is the only employee-owned management company in the city and one of only a handful in the country.
In July, the main topic of discussion will be: How to build a business while making an impact. Some of the discussion topics we'll attempt to address are:
What's your story? How have you evolved as an entrepreneur over the years?
How has your social justice work influenced your entrepreneurship journey?
What motivated you to form an employee-own company? How has that influenced the culture of your startup?
What are some of the challenges you see in the DC entrepreneurship ecosystem? How can new entrepreneurs better address these challenges?
As always, we will meet the third Wednesday of the month, July 17, 2019, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Alley, 2055 L St NW, 4th Floor. ASL interpreters, food, and drinks will be provided. Please be sure to register on Meetup so we can have an accurate count.
