Via Horizon 2020 the European Union is offering grants & support for Startups. One popular funding scheme is the dedicated SME-Instruments. Single SMEs and Startups can apply for up to 2,5 Mio. Euro. During this Meetup you will have the chance to listen and talk to Startups which have successfully applied for European funding.

Pantavision has already been funded twice: First via Fiware and afterwards via the SME-Instrument Phase 1. Fit Analytics has even won a grant in Phase 2 of the SME-Instrument [masked]€ up to 2,5 Mio. Euro). These startups will share their success stories with you and give you insight tipps how they have managed to get a grant! We will also have two experts explaining the process of a proposal writing!



Background: Within Horizon 2020 the European Union is not only funding research activities but also close to market activities. Within the SME-Instrument single SMEs and Startups can apply for[masked]€ (Phase 1) up to 2,5 Mio. € (Phase 2). Alternatively, Startups can also access Fiware accelerators accross Europe.

PANTAVISION ( Digital Diagnostics, a Spin-Off from Berlin's Charité, is an innovative supplier of analytical solutions for the medical imaging profession. Focusing on the increasingly relevant, visually oriented disciplines radiology, pathology and anatomy, we provide healthcare providers with visual expert information.

Michael Grupp, Founder of Pantavision will explain you how Pantavision simplifies the diagnosis of medical imaging. Michael will also report how Pantavision made it into the Fiware Accelerator and how they managed to get funded within the SME-Instrument Phase 1. Get feedback about these funding opportunities offered by the European Union by a top-healthcare-Startup: What are the main benefits? How do the Instruments work? What are the tipps & tricks?

Christian Hildebrand, Jolocom UG

Jolocom ( is building an application which enables you to tie information to your identity, regardless where it is stored. You can secure data, yet exchange information peer-to-peer using links and clever access-right-management. Among other technologies Jolocom is also using the block chain. Jolocom is part of a Horizon 2020 project called AGILE (, which aims to develop the essential software and hardware in order to build modular gateway solutions for managing the devices and data in IoT solutions.

Christian will give you an overview from a startup perspective how to be part of a European H2020 consortium.

EIT Digital

EIT Digital is one of the main driver of innovation in Europe. EIT is supporting Startups via its competition "Idea Challenge" but also via its Accelerator Klimate-KIC. We will let you know how to get in the Accelerator and give you tipps what you will get out of it!

Workshop with Louis Papaemmanuel

Louis Papaemmanuel will run a workshop free of charge about how to apply for the SME-Instrument. Louis, an expert regarding EU proposals, has been working at the interface of technology, innovation and funding for over seven years. He has been involved in the writing of several successful applications.
