What we're about

We welcome anyone who loves to tell stories, loves to hear them, or both. We'll meet the SECOND THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH. Each event will have some featured tellers, plus some volunteers drawn from the audience, open-mic style. True stories, myths, folktales, anything goes. It's a fun scene and a great place to meet interesting people -- we often go out for a drink afterward at a neighborhood restaurant. "Do Tell!" happens in a relaxed BYOB venue with easy parking, just a few blocks from North Berkeley BART.

Upcoming events (5+)

Let's tell stories. Let's hear stories. Let's meet new folks.

The Monkey House

$10.00

For over four years, Berkeley's Monkey House Theater has been hosting a storytelling event called "That Really Happened???" It's been so successful that a new event has been created, this one less formal, with more of a chance for anyone to jump onstage and share a story. If you're interested in storytelling but don't have much experience doing it in front of a crowd, "Do Tell!" is a great place to start. If you're a seasoned teller, it's a great place to workshop new material and try out ideas. Most of all, it's a great place to hear stories and meet interesting people. DOORS OPEN AT 7:00. SHOW BEGINS AT 7:30. We have a hard-wired video camera with an excellent stereo shotgun mic. If you bring an SD card (class 4 or 10) we will videotape your performance at no charge.
