- Hands-on Labs: Modernizing Windows Applications!
THIS IS A FREE EVENT - PLEASE RSVP USING THIS LINK ALSO https://events.docker.com/events/details/docker-budapest-presents-hands-on-labs-modernizing-windows-applications Join us for the Budapest local edition of this season’s Play-with-Docker workshop series! The main theme of this global event series is modernizing traditional .NET / Windows applications! Moving an application to Docker doesn't mean you have to re-write your whole application. In this hands on technical lab, you'll containerize an older, monolithic .NET application without changing any code. And you'll see the benefit of running it on Docker. Then in a few simple steps you'll build additional services in separate containers, breaking features out of the monolith into separate containers, without rewriting the app. We will also have a number of other labs available on a variety of topics and for different skill levels, including for beginners. Bring your laptop and #LearnDocker. If you are an advanced user who would like to help people work through the labs, reach out to us using the ‘Contact us’ button at the bottom of the page! Food and drinks will be provided! Let everyone know you’re coming by using #LearnDocker. There are 2 international speakers, who will present the following 2 topics: - Kris Buytaert: Docker is killing your #devops Efforts - Magnus Bengtsson: Choosing your scheduler wisely With the rise of containers and microservices the need of quickly deploying new services and responding to different workloads over time has increased. The heavy lifting in such setups is usually done by schedulers. Choosing a scheduler can be hard, they all offer different functionality and requirements. This talk will describe the basics of scheduling and what one should expect from a scheduler and what the current options are today. You will also get insight on what the Swedish tabloid Expressen learned from deciding on a scheduler for it's infrastructure a second time and the process of actually switching scheduler. 17:30 - Venue opens gates 18:00 - 1st presenter starts 18:40 - 2nd presenter starts 19:20 - Food and beverages arrive - networking After party at Grund (http://www.agrund.hu).
