Plus, special guest Troy Connor will go over Docker's new Kubernetes features in Docker for Mac/Win! Every year in March, we celebrate Docker’s birthday with a series of hands-on labs! Many labs to choose from! Advanced Docker users are invited to get involved on-site and act as mentors. Come learn, mentor, celebrate, eat cake, and take an epic #dockerselfie! Docker Birthday #5 Hands-on Labs include: Docker 101 for Linux users Docker 101 for Windows users Kubernetes on Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows Modernizing Traditional Java Apps Modernizing Traditional .NET / Windows Apps Deploying Multi-OS applications with Docker EE No need to install anything ahead of these events, we'll be using Play with Docker (PWD), a Docker playground which allows users to run Docker commands in a matter of seconds. It gives the experience of having a free Alpine Linux Virtual Machine in browser, where you can build and run Docker containers and even create clusters. In addition to the playground, PWD also includes a training site composed of a large set of Docker labs and quizzes from beginner to advanced level available at training.play-with-docker.com. If following the Kubernetes on Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows, you’ll need to install Docker for Mac or Docker for Windows, depending on your operating system.     Docker has released their quarterly Stable release as 17.06, and Bret will go through all the new features and buttery smoothness of Docker + Compose + Swarm for the full Dev-to-Prod lifecycle. Docker Captain John Zaccone from Richmond's Docker Meetup will be joining us to show off using Jenkins with Docker for continuous building, testing, and deployment of docker images and containers. He will cover some best practices and caveats, including caveats of running Docker containers from a Docker container (DinD).     Even though we're having a meetup on Monday for ECS! Let's do a last-minute happy hour on Wednesday at Birch Bar in Norfolk with the 757dev family of meetups! You only need to RSVP on one of the meetups that's attending (Norfolk.js, Code4HR, GDG HR, etc.) It's time again to get together for another Beer.js at The Birch Bar in Norfolk, VA. The birch has a food menu featuring amazing grilled cheese and pretzels, or pizzas can be purchased from the Chelsea Bakehouse next door. If you don't care for beer, there are other alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available. Since it's December, this is a special holiday-themed event.
