  • Learn Docker@Cream City Labs

    Cream City Labs

THIS IS A FREE EVENT - PLEASE RSVP USING THIS LINK https://events.docker.com/events/details/docker-milwaukee-presents-play-with-docker-hands-on-labs-modernizing-windows-applications Join us for the Milwaukee local edition of this season’s Play-with-Docker workshop series! The main theme of this global event series is modernizing traditional .NET / Windows applications! Moving an application to Docker doesn't mean you have to re-write your whole application. In this hands on technical lab, you'll containerize an older, monolithic .NET application without changing any code. And you'll see the benefit of running it on Docker. Then in a few simple steps you'll build additional services in separate containers, breaking features out of the monolith into separate containers, without rewriting the app. We will also have a number of other labs available on a variety of topics and for different skill levels, including for beginners. Bring your laptop and #LearnDocker. If you are an advanced user who would like to help people work through the labs, reach out to us using the ‘Contact us’ button at the bottom of the page! Food and drinks will be provided! Let everyone know you’re coming by using #LearnDocker. • DevOps with VSTS: Build a Docker App Stack (Angular, .Net Core and Java/Spring)

Nick Schultz, a Docker Accredited instructor and Docker Milwaukee meetup member, delivers an encore presentation of his popular "THAT Conference" session where he simulated the development of an Angular/.NET Core/Java-Spring app using VSTS to build pipelines that deploy to a Docker EE cluster running on AWS. In this session, Nick will use Docker and VSTS to build a pipeline that will turn his feature branch into a new site. He will leverage Docker EE/ Swarm to create some new services on the fly and wire them together. Then Nick will add a new feature to our Angular front-end and C# back-end, watch those changes run through the pipeline and then compare the new site to the existing one.

  • Explore a Developer Use Case for Docker with Sonarqube and .Net

    NVISIA - Milwaukee Office

Bring your laptop and follow along as we explore a common developer journey to the world of Docker. Nick Schultz, a Docker accredited consultant and instructor will lead us through a typical software developer's organic adoption process of Docker. So, I installed Docker on my dev box. Now what??? - Explore! Get new technology up and running in seconds with your "no-install playground" for new technology (exploring 1,312,470 images on Docker Hub) - we won't cover them all :-) - Try something useful! Try using a local container with Sonarqube - Build a custom Sonarqube image to share with your entire team! Discuss design consideration for your Dockerfile while using "docker image build" - Use a build server (GitLab in our case) to create and push your team's custom image to a registry - Share a single "docker run" command for teammates to scan their .Net code locally with Sonarqube using your new custom Docker image.
