Introduction to Obedience & Agility plus Off Leash Play In The Fields

This event will repeat on the first and third Saturday of each month.

The training classes will be your chance to teach your pup the basic commands to allow you to have a better relationship. Common difficulties that we all experience will be discussed. No more pulling, jumping, and suddenly becoming hearing impaired when his name is called! These, as well as all of your other training concerns, will be thoroughly addressed at our Obedience Training classes. For those doggies who already know some of the basic commands, you may take this time to reinforce them by engaging in some fun play through Agility Practice.

Following the Obedience Training and Agility Practice, all dogs are invited to stay and enjoy Off Leash Play time. If you prefer, it is fine to spend all of your time at free play and not participate in the training portion of this event at all - your choice. The fields are fully fenced and safe for dogs to run loose and play without constantly receiving correction. There is no time limit - you and your pets are welcome to stay and use the agility obstacles or play on the fields for as long as you like.

The evening prior to this event, specific directions to the location will be sent to everyone who RSVPs "Yes" to attend.

A small donation will be accepted from those Dog THAF Members who choose to assist with the fees charged by Meetup to Organizers (not to mention the cost of agility obstacles). Donations are much appreciated but completely voluntary and everyone is welcome to attend whether or not you can afford to make a donation.

All dogs should be in healthy condition at each of our Meetups. If your canine is showing any sign of illness on the day that we are scheduled to Meetup, please do not have your doggie attend! This includes vomiting, diarrhea, or listlessness. Also do not attend if your canine is not up-to-date with routine veterinary care and vaccinations. If your dog shows ANY sign of illness or has been in contact with any ill canine within the previous week, please do not bring him/her to this Meetup.

It is not a requirement for attendance, however, your canine should have been recently dewormed or have a veterinarian perform a fecal analysis to prove that he/she is free of parasites. If your dog should defecate in one of the fields at Tiff's, there is no need to clean up if it happens to be a distance from the action. Droppings in the yard or driveway should be picked up. Bring plastic bags to do this and - please! - help out the rest of us with this chore! There is a garbage barrel by the house near the porch for disposing of full plastic bags.

Although this is also not a requirement for attendance, during the warmer months, owners should consider treating their dogs with Frontline or Advantix. These are available from your local veterinarian, through mail order, or at local stores. These must be applied one or two days following a bath and needs to be reapplied if the dog is bathed again. It only lasts for three weeks (not the one month that the manufacturer will advertise).

Participation in any activity with the Dog Training Hiking And Fun Meetup is at your own risk. To the fullest extent allowed by law, all participants waive any claims against, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Dog Training Hiking And Fun Meetup group, it's organizers, affiliates, employees, officers, directors and contractors from all claims of liability of every type (including court costs and legal fees) for injury or death to any person or dog or for damage to property arising out of or relating to your participation as a member. Read the description of the event (above). It says that "the evening prior to this event, specific directions to the location will be sent."

I have an Aussie mix who loves to learn new things. I would love to come but am nervous because of the large number of dogs. He is good at greeting other dogs and people but sometimes gets overwhelmed when there are too many dogs in an off leash setting. Is this a environment that will have a lot of off leash play?

My daughter had a really great dog a pit lab mix that is the size of a lab and the build of the pit. A very strong dog with the heart of a puppy. Not aggressive at all We tried very hard to rehome him but could not get it done. we could not see him sent to the pound ld so we have taken him. we also have a unfriendly Bengal that has never been around dogs. the large dog neutered and he still goes crazy when he sees the other dog. We keep them in the house in shifts . the two dogs got together when one got into the house when we forgot to secure the back door. We were not home and they spent the day together. The house was just as we left it and their tails were wagging with no issues. In shock we separated the dogs again and have not been able to comfortably reunite them again. I am sure the problem lays more in us than them Our tension level raises and I think the dogs feel it. We need some help in uniting this divided house. Any advice would be a great help Anthony[masked]

Our objective is to get them to be ok when they are together. I got a gentle lead for the big dog and he is ok walking with it we are going to start walking them together in the am and afternoon. That seems to be the concensus more for us than them.
