Karunamayi Yoga


Karunamayi Yoga is a profound yoga asana practice, a special and unique series of ten yoga asanas given to the world by Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi, a modern sage who spent over a decade in the deep and remote forests of India engaged in meditation and has spent the past two decades devoted to selfless service to humanity in the form of education, charity, and individual blessings.

Yoga has many documented benefits for physical and mental health. Karunamayi Yoga is specifically designed to blossom the inner chakras, bringing many more benefits which aid the spiritual practitioner in accelerating their evolution on the path. Suitable for all levels, this practice is a deep journey through ten powerful asanas, each with their unique character and gifts. Highly meditative and the powerful effects on the subtle energy are felt for the rest of the day, helping with all fields of life and also to achieve deeper states of meditation.

About Yogeshwar 

Yogeshwar Darin Somma first started studying yoga in high school and was introduced to the practice of yoga asana in college. After completing degrees in Math, Philosophy,Psychology and Physics, he then lived for six months Plum Village, the Buddhist monastery of Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh in Thenac, France.

Yogeshwar then experienced a full immersion in yogic lifestyle at Sri Swami Satchidananda’s ashram, Yogaville in Buckingham Virginia, where he lived for six months. After leaving Yogaville, he studied deeply the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga of Pattabhi Jois for two years, and then started teaching yoga in Washington DC in 2001. He established a yoga school in 2006, training teachers to share the Vedic legacy of yogic knowledge.

In 2010, Her Holiness Amma Sri Karunamayi appointed Yogeshwar to the position of International Yoga Director for SMVA Trust, and blessed him to teach the divinely revealed yoga asana sequence of Karunamayi Yoga.
