Here's two in Columbus, but they're on the north side.
You could also check out Unity churches and Spiritual Living Centers (Science of Mind).
Good Luck!  There's lots out there, you just have to find it.

I am wondering if you know of any groups that meet in the Columbus area?

Please take the time to read the following and give feedback to the group. I think it's great that we're starting to look at this... - Steve

On doing workshops:

The topic of workshops has come up on a number of occasions ever since the Down-to-Earth group started. It came up again this week in a more lively way, meaning that I heard some energy in people's voices. Sounds like it's time to do something about it. So...

The meetings we have on weekday evenings are great for studying books, collectively figuring out what all the stuff means, and playing with the connections we make. They are also good times for sharing successes, making new friends and getting a little help from each other when the inevitable bumps in the road show up. There are times, however, when making this stuff work in your life takes a little more time than we have available. Understanding the material is challenging. Getting it to work in your everyday life can be frustratingly so.

Changing the way you respond to the world demands that you use your nervous system in ways it may neither be familiar nor comfortable with. Things take a little massaging to get them to work. Your neurology is unique. That's why generic approaches often don't seem to be very effective. Take for example a commonly used tool: guided meditations. They've never worked for me. There is always something about the language that bothers me, or the pace, sometimes its the content. The presenter tells me to go to a quiet restful place, I go to the seashore, then he or she starts talking about kicking back in the rainforest next to a stream. Pop! I'm no longer with him. I usually go back to the seashore and ignore the rest of the program.

This is one of the reasons why workshops are so useful. Everyone's uniqueness can be taken into account and processes can be adapted so you get what you came for. You can learn processes that would have taken far more time and practice trying to learn it on your own. You can wire the stuff into your strategies at the neurological level so you don't have to expend so much effort remembering to do it every time. You can get help from other folks who may know some strategies you don't know.

Normally, learning something new takes some time and goes through three stages: First you're consciously incompetent... you're figuring out how to do it at the conscious level but don't quite have it down yet. Next you're consciously competent. You've figured it out and you've had enough practice that you can do it, but you still have to pay attention or you goof it up. The third and final stage is that you're unconsciously do it naturally without thinking about it anymore. You've learned it. Now you're free to pay attention to other things while the doing happens in the background out of your conscious awareness.

Looking at this another way, workshops save you time. It seems otherwise at first, but think about it. There are many new things to learn in life. Learning how to be a more conscious, centered you is no different. You have to work at every new strategy until it becomes second nature. It takes time to learn how to meditate, to ignore distractions, to respond with love and compassion and so many other things. All require learning. All require teaching your body-mind to do something it doesn't know how to do yet. In a workshop setting focused on any given issue, you can get this stuff wired in quickly so you don't have to spend so much time struggling with each and every new skill.

Learning in this way changes your time line. You get changes done now instead of sometime in the future, so the time between now and when you would have learned it the old way becomes different. You've become a time traveler. You now have a different future since you're using a skill now that you wouldn't have had until much later. You've effectively changed your future. Sweet!

So, there you are. Let's all become time travelers. All we need are:

places to do the workshops,

topics to work on

and people to teach stuff we want to know.

If you're having a problem with something or you just want to learn something that's frustrating you or taking too much time, let us know. I'll volunteer my skills as an NLP Practitioner to make the learning relatively easy and quick. Since all change work is just moving personal resources around or learning some new way to be you in a situation, anything can be a topic that everyone can learn from. So get started thinking about what you want to learn, or changes you want to make and help us find places to do the workshops. We'll network to put the rest of the details in place.
