Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, ME

We will once again have a booth at the fair, in the Social/Political Action tent. For those who have never attended: you will love it! It is a real country fair (and it's huge) sponsored by Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association. We will need people to staff our booth from 9 am-6 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9 am-5 pm on Sunday. People will be needed to set up Friday morning, and break down on Sunday afternoon. In the past we have divided the days into two shifts, morning and afternoon. Be thinking about what day and shift you can volunteer for. it was my first time helping at the Humanist table with Doug. It was very interesting and I'd be willing to help again. We need to thank Doug for lugging all the "stuff" to the fairgrounds and cleaning it up afterwards. It was a lot of work for him. Perhaps we can discuss ways we could help him if and when we do it next year.

Thanks Alice. It was a lot of work but glad it seemed like a successful fair. Thanks to everyone who helped.

The Saturday afternoon shift was great. Lots of good conversations. Lynn and I were joined at the booth by Tom of FFRF ME and Anna Marin and Jeremy Cort of MAH.

    So here is the updated list of commitments to being at the booth. Shifts would be Fri and Sat am 9-1:30; pm 1:30-6; and Sun am 9-1 and pm 1-5. Friday am Doug, Nadine;
    Fri pm Alice, Lynn, Doug.
Sat am Torj & Kurt (not positive), Lynn, Flo.
    Sat. pm Nancy, Lynn.
Sun. am Harry, Flo. Sun pm Doug, Lynn.

Others from FFRF ME and MAH will be joining us, but we need DHF members at all times.

Not to lay guilt trips on anyone, but more help would definitely be welcomed, if not being sorely needed! Please respond here if you can join us. This is a very important event for us, and is actually great fun. Thanks!

Thanks Nancy. This event really is our biggest commitment for the year. Glad we have people volunteering but we could always use more. you never know when we'll need to fill in a spot. I still have a few passes to get you in to the fair. If anyone needs one let me know where to send it.

The weather looks good for the fair so I think we can expect a good crowd. Kurt and Torj will be there on Sat morning so we should be good for coverage. Thanks everyone. Have fun!

I'll be around at some point although I'm averse to any "public relations" commitment.

You are welcome to hang out at the booth for a bit and see how it feels, Marilyn. You might find it fun!

Got our Exhibitor Passes (9) in the mail on Sat. so those willing to help at the booth can get in free. I'll bring them to the next meeting.
As I see it we need at least one more person on Sat. and Sun. afternoon and two for Sun. morning. The more the merrier of course.

So,correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like we have: Fri AM Doug, Nadine; Fri PM Alice; Sat AM Torj & Kurt; Sat PM Nancy; Flo and Lynn any time needed. We need more people to commit to shifts. Should have at least two on at all times.

I will plan on being there all day Fri. an unless someone can haul all this stuff home I will be there on sun. afternoon as well. I'll check the notes from the last two meetings to see if I've missed any volunteers.

I'm planning to help at the booth on Friday afternoon and possibly Saturday morning if I manage to camp at the fairgrounds.

    Hi guys,
I'm in! For whatever days you need/want me. I've reserved the whole weekend. I'd like to carpool with someone(s) if possible.

Thanks for listing the event Nancy. FYI, I asked for an electrical outlet this year. It was only $15.00 more and it would be nice to be able to light-up the "This is what an _____ looks like" display.

Great! We also need to make sure we have the devil's horns for the "Evilutionist" this year...
