Hello and welcome to Downtown Mindfulness,

I am thrilled that you found your way here. Thank you for being here.

This group is for people interested in deepening their practice and understanding of mindfulness. Downtown Mindfulness creates a space for people to explore what it means to live with awareness, compassion and curiosity.

The bi-monthly meetings at Downtown Mindfulness started as a need for follow up meetings after the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes.  If you have taken an 8-week MBSR class or any other secular mindfulness program, these meetings create a space to continue practicing together with an experienced teacher.

If you have not taken a formal class before, you are welcome to join the bi-monthly meetings if you feel comfortable sitting for 40 minutes or more. Otherwise, you can try the free introductory classes or the 8-week classes, the schedule for which you can find on the DowntownMindfulness.com website.

In case I have not had the opportunity to meet with you, I am Shalini Bahl. I started this group because practicing mindfulness is easier when we do it together. I have been meditating for over fifteen years and received professional training from the Center for Mindfulness, UMass Medical School, Worcester Amherst MA and in the Search Inside Yourself program, a mindfulness-based emotional intelligence program that started at Google. I also have a doctoral degree in marketing from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass, Amherst, MA and continue to publish research integrating the benefits of mindfulness in enhancing the well-being of consumers, marketing, and our society at large.
