New Meetup for Drawing London on Location

From: Lee
Sent on: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 7:19 AM
I've updated this Meetup. For more details, see the full listing:
http://www.meetup.com/Drawing-London-on-Location/calendar/12836879/

When: Saturday, March 20,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Museum of London
London Wall London EC2Y 5HN
London
[masked]

First stop for this tour is the museum of London situated by the London Wall and St Paul's - current meeting place at the moment is just inside the main entrance at 11.00 AM.
There's plenty of things to draw at The Museum from prehistoric artifacts, pottery and bones to ancient stone. The museum also includes: Roman ceramics and sculptures, Anglo Saxon weapons, Viking battle axes, domestic objects from the Medieval times, prints and drawings and a dress and fashion collection dating back from the Tudor period to present day.
From there we will walk on to St Paul's and if the weathers good my plan is to stop here and draw too, if not we'll head straight on to the Tate Modern where we'll make a start in the Turbine hall. The Tate Modern's an interesting structure to draw in itself, but there's also plenty of sculptural, assemblage and installation art to draw inside too as well as a great view at the very top across the Thames.
All locations are within walking distance from one another so we'll be moving between each on foot.
We'll see how long we stay at each location depending on how the day goes, but roughly speaking a couple of hours at each. We should have the facility to split into smaller groups if people wish to stay at a location and then meet up again later at the end.
We'll be ending the day for a drink at the Founders Arms a Young's pub near the river next to the Tate.

Nice.
