Teachings on Chod by Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche

Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche will will discuss the Chod Empowerment that concluded the day before on Saturday.

Heart Essence Chod Practice Instructions:

Cutting Through Deluded Thoughts into the Expanse

This particular tradition of cutting through (gcod) compiled by Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche is an ultimate mixing of the lineages of cutting through, Mahāmudrā, and Dzogchen. It uniquely combines the cutting through traditions that appear within the scope of the Drigung Kagyü, including the traditions of Jigten Sumgön's [masked]) Profound Dharma (zab chos), Kunga Rinchen's [masked]) instructions which came from Machig Labdrön, and those of the treasure discoverer Lho Nuden Dorje [masked]). In the context of this one practice that unites all such traditions, one meditates upon oneself in the generation stage forms of the Great Mother Prajnaparamitra, the black ḍākiṇī Troma Nagpo, and the red ḍākiṇī Vajrayoginī to offer one's gross body and deluded thoughts as a feast offering to all sentient beings. In such a manner, this text also focuses specifically on the completion stage realizations of Mahāmudrā and Dzogchen, cutting through the fundamental delusion of grasping at a self. These teachings, unifying the essences of the old and new schools of Tibetan vajrayāna, are very dear to Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche, who served as a chant master at Lhogön Gar monastery from an early age, and he has not widely given the teachings out in the west before. Therefore, this will be an unprecedented opportunity to receive such a rare combination of instructions from the direct compiler himself. Bring your gcod drums, bells, thighbone trumpets, skullcups, inner ḍākiṇī nature, and spacious expanses of the nature of mind.
