Modules Modules Modules

Due to high demand we will start the evening with a Drupal Newbie Introduction from 6 to 6:30pm. Bring along your laptop and we will help you get Drupal 7 up and running on your machine.

From 7pm we will dive into the ocean of modules. We will not cover all the 15,069 modules that are listed on drupal.org at the point of posting this meetup, but start with lighting talks about your favourite modules.

At around 8pm we will split into two groups.

For all of you who are starting with Drupal Meike will walk with you through the steps of how to find, download, install and activate modules.

While Sally will be giving an introduction to building your own modules for all advanced drupallers amongst you.

We look forward to seeing you!
Sally and Meike

P.S. We will be in the Hub Westminster again, so please RSVP for the event if you want to come along, to make sure your name is on the list we give to the registration desk.

Brilliant; a great intro for a self-declared newb (I have coded php, but just to be on the safe side...). It was certainly worth turning up for the setup walkthrus and the tips on installing additional mods. I hope to attend many more.

A brilliant evening, and really inspiring. Sally's talk was a fantastic introduction to building modules. Thanks again!

5 stars! Sally’s presentation went beyond showing what to do to (to make a simple Hello World module) and demonstrated something of how one could go about it. e.g. surfing thru hooks in the drupal api documentation. Just what I had hoped for :-)

Great meetup. Thanks to all who organised it and to sally for a great mobulde building discussion. I have put my notes and useful links on my blog. http://www.robertwdlowe.co.uk/?p=63 if anyone needs it. Also theres the example code for the module. I look forward to our next meetup!

Sally's Module Building session was a really good over-view of the building process. Although she warned us we needed a reasonable grasp of PHP if we wanted to attend (I don't) I decided to go anyway, since I'm interested in learning. I still got a huge amount out of the session and feel a lot more certain about where I'd need to go next if I wanted to learn more. Thanks very much.

Drat! Running late (because a Drupal meeting over-ran) - hope I can still deliver my Taxonomy manager lightning talk ;-)

    Hi Alejandro,
Definitely come along, I fully agree with Ifung's previous post. I only started usind Drupal a few months ago and attended my first learning session last month.

I found the group to be friendly and supportive. I am working through exercises from a D7 book using a Netbook on both a Drupal local installation and a remotely hosted site. Give me a shout during the course of the evening and I'll be happy to show you my progress so far.

Hi. The group is for Drupal people at all stages. The idea is for people to help each other out. New people - come and start using Drupal. Seasoned hackers - contribute by sharing your know-how.

At the beginning, there will be lightning talks and a get Drupal installed session. And then the group will split between a beginners session with Meike showing people how to install and enable contributed modules, and an improvers session with Sally showing people how to write their own modules.

    Hi Drupallers,
I'm a very beginner in Drupal. Will this meeting be appropriate or shall I look for an entry level one?
