Welcome to our first ever meetup event! Yay! \o/

This first event will be focused on introducing Ruby on Rails to beginners or people who don't know anything about Rails yet. There are already loads of Rails tutorials over the internet, and as such, this first event aims to just simply "guide" aspirants over the early challenging part of learning Rails, and hopefully immediately answers their difficulties or problems.

We envisioned it to be a simple, fun, and casual learning experience.

Requirements:

• Laptop with wi-fi

• Learn Ruby basics at this link (http://tryruby.org/levels/1/) (first 4 levels only: 1-2 hours). It's easy! :) This helps us to teach Rails to everyone efficiently.

• Sign up free at c9.io (https://c9.io/) as our development environment. You may also use your own local environment if you already have Ruby installed.

• No other programming background required.

It is totally free; we'll only have a limited number of seats though.

If you want to participate as a mentor, please directly message one of the admins.

Agenda:

• How does a website work?

• Rails basics

• Rails hands-on exercises

• Homework (optional)

We are pleased to announce our venue sponsor: Dogpatch Labs (http://dogpatchlabs.com)

Dogpatch Labs is a pay to play co-working space for scaling technology startups. It is located in the heart of the Dublin Docklands in the iconic CHQ Building.

See you all there! :3
