What we're about

Welcome to our Mindfulness Meetup.

The purpose of our group is to provide support and community for the many people expressing an interest in mindfulness with a view to bringing what happen to be Buddhist ethics into everyday life.

These are universal values such as controlling the body and speech, overcoming greed, ending anger, having patience under insult, getting along with others, practising kindness, generosity, gratitude and in general working to encourage the Golden Rule which is treating others as you would wish to be treated yourself

We take inspiration from inspiring Buddhist teachers such as Thich Nhat Hahn, the Dalai Lama, Jack Kornfield, Gill Fronsdal and others.

We are also open to mindfulness ideas arising from other sources both new and old.

The world is facing unprecedented challenges—environmental, economic, social, and moral—and to successfully rise to meet these challenges we must draw on the wisdom of the East and the West, of the ancient and the modern. The same challenges that imperil our very existence may help us unite in ways never before witnessed in human history.
- B. Alan Wallace,

We meet for Mindfulness Practice in the Lantern Centre, 15 Synge Street, Dublin 8 on the THIRD Tuesday of each month. Members aim to arrive and at 7.15pm so that we can be ready for a mindful 7.30pm start.

There is no charge for these evenings but we suggest a donation of €5 to cover the fact that we are allowed to have these sessions in the welcoming surrounding of the Lantern Centre.

I hope you get some benefit by being part of this group

Welcome along

Tony

Meeting together monthly for Mindfulness Practice and Support

We hope you will be able to join us for the next of our monthly mindfulness sessions in the Lantern Centre (http://lanterncentre.org/contact-us/) (Since we start on time and finish promptly at 9.00pm we ask people to arrive at 7.15pm or as near to 7.15pm as possible so as to facilitate greeting each other and to be ready for a prompt and mindful 7.30pm start) All are welcome but please only RSVP "YES" if you really intend to be present on the night - we would really appreciate your co-operation on this. Naturally there can be last minute difficulties arising for anyone but last minute simple unexplained changes from "YES" to "NO" do not help in the organising of the night The setting up of any particular evening is based on the number expected for that evening along with some provision for some (welcome) extra people who may simply turn up. Unnecessary vacant chairs break the circle and on the other hand it is disruptive to those present for us to be bringing chairs out or in at the last minute to cope with last minute changes. And a last minute change to "NO" does not allow time for us to invite other people along who might have wished to join us for the evening. There is no fixed charge for attending but as we naturally pay for the use of the venue and the opportunity for tea and chat at the end of the evening we ask for a voluntary donation (suggested €5) which we take up at the door (but only if you can afford it) There is parking at the centre but remember if parking on nearby streets that there is a 24 hour charging system in several streets in the vicinity.
