The Self-Organising Map (SOM) is an artificial intelligence technique that can be used to represent complex multi-variate datasets visually in two dimensions - they are used to visualise clusters and identify patterns in large data datas across a multitude of disciplines.
In this talk, there will be an introduction to self-organising maps, and a walk through of their application and interpretation to a example consumer data set. The aim of the talk is that everyone leaves the room knowing the theory and having enough practical knowledge to apply this technique using R in their own domain.
