The Denver Swedish Club is an official Duolingo.com sponsored language group dedicated to helping people learn Swedish. If you're in the Colorado area or just visiting, we meet at least once a month for fikas or special events. We practice Swedish (both in English och på Svenska), play games, do crafts, show-and-tell our various Swedish knickknacks, books, comics, stories, and more. If you're just starting, please don't hesitate to come; beginners are encouraged to join. Every event is very laid back, friendly, and informal--and none of us are fluent.
You can always recognize us but the DSC Swedish Flag and our miniature Mascot, Björn the Swedish troll. Bonus points if you wear blue and yellow to help us stand out to other members. There are never any charges to join us at events (unless there is an admission fee such as at a festival); Our group never collects any money from you directly and there are n catches. We just want to connect and help each other learn Swedish. You do not have to be a duolingo member to attend; however, it is a fantastic way to learn.
While we often meet at Ikea, we often move around the metro area and do interesting new things. Former events have included Seasonal Festivals, Botantic Garden Visits, Cereal and Comic Shops, Apple Picking, and the Annual Medieval Swedish Festival. Have an event idea or location request? Or do you have just have general questions? Contact us at email@example.com or follow us on IG @denverswedishclub and Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/denverswedishclub
Join the Denver Swedish Club on the night of the Autumnal Equinox for Fika at one of the most Swedish-y of places, Ikea! Our Duolingo-sponsored group is made of beginners, and we speak English when we don't practice; so, don't be intimidated by anything except the Ikea floor map. All ages welcome! (Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).
When: Sept 23rd @ 6:00 PM @ Ikea 9800 East IKEA Way, Centennial, CO
Where: Ikea 2nd-Floor Cafe From the main entrance, take the escalator up to the second floor and head towards the Ikea cafe. Food and drinks are available for purchase in the store restaurant and cafe, however, feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks. Please note: There are two cafes in Ikea. We will be meeting at the 2nd-floor cafe. If they sell meatballs, you're at the right place! (Don't go to the one by the exit which is much smaller.)
