New Meeting: genteXt Book Group: June's "Finally a Female" author

From: Jennifer

Announcing a new meeting for genteXt Book Group: Books, Bars and Beers!

What: genteXt Book Group: June's "Finally a Female" author

When: Monday, June 30, 8:00 PM

Where: (A location for this meeting hasn't been chosen yet)

Who should come: We are a book group for being between 21 and 39ish who want to meet new people and talk about interesting books.

Why: It's all the best things in a library book club--in a bar and with adult beverages.

Meeting Description: As regular genteXters know, we've been reading a lot of men recently. Well, it's time for a female author!

Small Wonder by Barbara Kingsolver

Some of you may know Kingsolver from her fiction (like The Poisonwood Bible) or from her recent book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life about her year of eating home grown and local food. Kingsolver is known for her vivid portrayal of and love for the natural world; a perspective she brings to all of her work. In this book of essays published soon after September 11th, Kingsolver uses her love of nature to illustrate political points and to bring a larger perspective to the world issues we hear about in the news every day. Small Wonder is a thoughtful book and you will appreciate her prose, whether or not you agree with her points.

I wanted to let you all know the book we'll be reading and I'll post the location soon (after I confirm it with the owner). For those of you who really wanted Geek Love, it's on the horizon.

Questions? Please email me at [address removed].

Thanks,

Jennifer
