SOCIAL MEDIA: Using Google+ and YouTube to Dominate the Web with Your Book

Every author hears the same thing: "Social media MUST be a critical part of your book marketing campaign." Yet few really see measurable results for all of their efforts. The reason? It's not that they're not spending enough time at it, or even that they're not quite adept at the various platforms. Rather, they're going at it without a plan. Social media is a tool — it is NOT a strategy, in and of itself. In order to be effective, you must learn how to best apply this tool to your book marketing goals.

Join us for the third of three sessions on social media, where we'll discuss how to use two of the most powerful social media platforms to enhance and support the rest of your marketing efforts. YouTube and Google+ are HUGE. If you think a Facebook presence is all you need, you may want to rethink that after this Meetup. It will be the perfect setup for the following Meetup (July 29), which will address how to make a book trailer.

You may want to bring your laptop so you can follow along with the discussion and explore particular tools and applications as we discuss them.

You will get the most out of this Meetup if you have already created your book marketing plan and have even a rough idea of what you hope to use social media to help you accomplish.

There's no fee to attend. Please just be a gracious guest and plan to purchase at least one beverage. We will order off the menu with a dedicated server; each person will pay his/her own tab.

Please RSVP "yes" only if you actually plan to attend this Meetup.

I was so sure this subject would be a 'wash' because I am not comfortable with the little bit of exploration I've done with Google apps. After watching Laura's presentation, I'm committed to playing around with Google Plus. Hmmmm.

Once again, Laura was a wealth of information for authors. Even when you think you know a topic, you leave inspired with fresh ideas.

Thanks again to Laura Orsini for sharing her time and extensive knowledge and expertise. I learned quite a lot, as always.
