  • Volunteer at Filipponi Ranch Winery

    This August, ECOSLO is holding a concert fundraiser at Filipponi Ranch Winery in SLO. In order to get the space ready for the event, we're asking for 5-6 volunteers to help do some creek clean up, a little tree trimming and general yard maintenance. Volunteers will receive $5 off their ECOSLO concert ticket for the August 10 event. When: Saturday, June 8 from 9am-12pm Where: 1850 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405. Turn on to the dirt road BEFORE you get to the little yellow house tasting room. Follow the dirt road until it ends at the clean up location, about a 1/4 mile. Check in with Janine Butler.     Join the SWAP (SMALL WILDERNESS AREA PRESERVATION) Weed Warriors on Saturday, February 6, from 9 a.m. to noon for our monthly battle against weeds and erosion in the Elfin Forest in Los Osos. We perform other tasks in the Forest as needed. Weed Warriors will be served home-baked cookies after the work party and new Weed Warriors will receive a Weed Warrior badge. SWAP First Saturday work parties are held from 9 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month. Please dress for wind, fog, or sun. Layers work well. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves.     Join ECOSLO Docent Adam for a Sunday morning hike to enjoy the city open space at Cerro San Luis (also known as Madonna Mountain). We will hike up to the old homestead area and lemon grove, then continue on up to the large concrete "M" overlooking downtown SLO. We'll learn about our local plants, animals and geology along the way. Please wear sturdy shoes, and bring sunscreen, water, and a snack. Rain within 24 hours of the hike cancels. Meet at the Fernandez Road trailhead at 9:00 AM. To get to the Fernandez Road trailhead: From Downtown San Luis Obispo, go south on Higuera St., turn right onto the southbound US 101 onramp at Marsh Street, then turn right onto Fernandez Road just before the onramp connects to the freeway.
