What we're about

The purpose of this group is twofold:

Number one is to help sellers get going and keep going. If someone feels confused or misled about where to start with their Amazon selling and wants a community with plenty of networking opportunities and connections, then this is the place to get started.

The second purpose is to provide more resources to the online selling community in North Carolina. Because selling online is so popular, there is plenty of information to capture from videos, blogs, and books. This Meetup seeks to provide as much value and as many resources as possible, empowering the members to sell and turn a profit quickly and efficiently.

Who should join?
Those who are either considering to start selling online or those who want to turn their hobby or side hustle into a business. This is a very hands-on and involved Meetup which provides all members with direct access to successful online selling professionals, information and experience, and step-by-step instructions into plenty of different software, tools, and subscriptions. Those who want to take advantage of hands-on training you can't find online and talk in person with other bookselling professionals must attend regular meetings.

What will we do?
Cover a new step in the process, any updates to Amazon, eBay, & Shopify policies which directly affect sellers, and cover a hands-on practical exercise. This will include everything from setting up a book scanning software, scanning books in the adjoining warehouse, and preparing and sending in a shipment for Fulfillment by Amazon or fulfilling a customer's order. Because the Meetup is held in a brand new Resell Fulfillment Center and eCommerce Coworking space, we have access to provide hands-on training for a vast majority of online selling processes. One of the most important resources which can be provided at these Meetups is the online seller community. The first and last thing we will do is enjoy drinks (coffee, water, ... etc), and social time while we settle into our seats and prepare for each Meetup. The conversations and connections which take place between professionals before and after each Meetup are what will help fuel the online selling community in North Carolina.

Selling Used Books Online With Shopify, Amazon, Ebay & More

Welcome! The first Meetup will be FULL of information to help get you started with your e-commerce journey. This includes a FREE FBA qualified book valued at least $10. We will cover some basic information for selling books on Amazon and get some HANDS-ON experience scanning books and preparing shipments. Come prepared to learn and work! The first 15 minutes of each Meetup will be social time with coffee, water, and soda. This will include handshakes and chatting with other booksellers, both experienced and inexperienced. Bring your business cards in preparation for networking and getting to know each other. The following 5 or 10 minutes will be focused on questions to ensure we get our answers as quickly and effectively as possible. This way if any question requires research, we can have a virtual assistant or one of the NCEC members find the information before the Meetup is over. All questions are welcome and the answer can also come from anyone. We are not selective as the goal is to provide as much help and value as possible. One hour to an hour and a half will consist of step-by-step instructions on an aspect of used bookselling focused on the North Carolina market. Most tools, methods, processes, platforms, channels, and third party software are opinion and comfort level based. This means what works for you, may not work for someone else. In order to accommodate this, we will host several speakers to cover many different topics in depth. This period of the Meetup will include hands-on practice and training. This will give the beginner an opportunity to try tools and software before paying for it. These include tools such as our in-house PDA's with scouting apps and WMS software, Inventory Lab, ScanLister, TurboLister, Wholesale Inspector, Shipedge, and MANY more. Because the Durham Resell Fulfillment Center is adjacent to the Meetup, there will be plenty of opportunities to practice the entire process, both for FBA and MFN. Though everyone is welcome, this Meetup is primarily focused on either beginner used booksellers or those who are looking to scale their side hustle of selling used books into a full-blown business. The last 15 minutes or so of this Meetup will be focused on asking more questions and handing out resources. This will also include at least one used book which qualifies for a minimum of $10 gross FBA profit. The purpose of this is to encourage people to put into practice what they learn. The resources and speakers at this Meetup will only increase in value as the audience grows and the demand for more information increases.

Walk Through Tour & Q&A for ECOVS, the NC E-Commerce Center

Starting in the conference room at 10 am every Thursday, we will take a walk through the new NC E-commerce Center at ECOVS. This will be an opportunity for the community to learn more about what we do here, how these things are done, and what to expect from different services. During this tour, there will also be plenty of time for questions and answers as they relate to the E-commerce Center and its operations. Because this is simply a walkthrough tour, information gathering, and Q&A, this is a free event. We will also have coffee and water available for everyone.
