ECRS Winter Adventure near Corning, NY
ECRS Winter Adventure is a creative and joyous alternative holiday-season experience. We offer an array of classes with time for relaxing and socializing, including a chance for participants to share an activity of their own. Winter Adventure is the longest of our events, running from December 27th to January 1st each year. It's a special and memorable way to close out the previous year and usher in the new! There are 3 class periods each day, and each class is offered for two or four days, so activities can be explored in more depth than during our weekend events. At night, we gather for group singing, cooperative games, folk and line dancing, and special theme nights, including a uniquely-ECRS welcoming of the New Year. Our facility for Winter Adventure, Watson Homestead, is a conference and retreat center located near Corning, NY. Situated on a beautiful rural campus with fields, wooded trails and quiet roads, you will be able to take a peaceful (usually brisk!) walk outside or cuddle up on a couch in front of the large fireplace. Meals are served buffet-style, and housing options range from basic bunk rooms with shared baths to hotel-style rooms. Details for Winter Adventure 2018 are now available on our website at http://www.ecrs.org/upcoming-events/. This year's classes include several Games options, several Crafts options, Improv, Small Scenes, Folk Dancing, Drum Circle, Song Parody, a celebration of the Beatles, and more! Visit our website for online registration, and to view class descriptions and the complete event flyer. Tuition is FREE for newcomers, and there are Room & Board options to fit your budget. Note that if you would like a double room but don't have someone to share it with, you can still select that option and the registrar will match you with a roommate. If you have any questions, contact us via meetup or email the event registrar at [masked]. There's no place quite like ECRS! Join us for a retreat from the ordinary.

What we're about

ECRS is a warm and welcoming community for folks of all ages. Our events take place in beautiful and informal country settings within a few hours of New York City and Philadelphia. Our programs offer an ever-changing menu of optional daily classes, such as games, dance, drama/improv, crafts, music, personal development, and more, led by our skilled and caring members. Nightly we make our own merriment when we all gather for an evening program, full of activities such as folk and line dancing, group singing, cooperative games, and friendly conversation over a light snack. A typical year includes a 5-day event at a retreat center in NY State in late December, a weekend at a summer camp in Bucks County PA in early June, and a weekend in Rockland County NY, Lancaster County PA, or the Poconos in the spring or fall.

We are a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, and our events emphasize enjoyment, creativity, community and personal growth. Our attendees include families, singles and couples, elders and children and every age in between, all interacting in a playful, relaxing, and supportive environment. Our participants are largely concentrated in the greater NY, Philadelphia, and DC areas, but many others travel from Massachusetts, North Carolina, Toronto, and elsewhere to join us at one or more events each year.

More information, and details and registration for our upcoming events, can be found at: http://www.ecrs.org/ and you can follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/yay4ecrs
